Intellectual property
All content, branding, software, designs, and materials on this site and within the TinnitusEase application are owned by or licensed to Norse Bear Studios Ltd. unless stated otherwise. You must not reproduce, distribute, or exploit any part of the site or portal without prior written permission.

Testing confidentiality
Pre-release builds, test links, documentation, and programme materials are confidential. You must not share them publicly or distribute access links unless explicitly authorised.

Limitation of liability

1. Who we are
This Privacy Policy explains how Norse Bear Studios Ltd., trading as AuralLearn Health™, collects and uses personal data in relation to the TinnitusEase™ app and related tester sign-up/contact forms and testing programme (the “Services”).

We are the data controller for the personal data described in this policy.

2. Third-Party SDK Statement
The TinnitusEase™ app does not use any third-party SDKs other than store distribution and billing/entitlement services provided by Google Play, Apple App Store, and Microsoft Store. If this changes, this policy will be updated before or at the time of release.

3. What Data We Collect
A. Contact / Tester Enrolment (Required):
- Name and email address
- Message content

B. App Usage and Diagnostics (Required):
- App version/build, OS version, device model/class
- Feature usage events
- Therapy/session activity
- Error logs, crash/ANR diagnostics, performance signals

C. Health Data (Required for personalised therapy):
- Tinnitus profile inputs
- Hearing assessment selections
- Audiogram results

Health data is required to generate personalised therapy sessions. It is not shared with third parties as part of our processing.

D. Subscription & Entitlement Data:
- Entitlement status
- Subscription tier identifiers
- Transaction references (for validation only)
Payment details are handled by the relevant store provider.
 

4. Lawful Bases & Purposes
We process personal data under the following lawful bases:

- Contract (to provide the service requested)
- Legitimate interests (service operation, improvement, security)
- Legal obligation (where applicable)

Health data is processed under Article 9(2)(j) UK GDPR (research/statistical purposes) with appropriate safeguards under the Data Protection Act 2018.

Subscription validation
Legal compliance and misuse prevention

5. Store Providers & Data Sharing
We share limited data with:

Google Play – distribution, subscription processing, entitlement validation.
Apple App Store – distribution, subscription processing, entitlement validation.
Microsoft Store – distribution, purchase/subscription validation.

We do not share tinnitus profile or audiogram data with store providers.

6. International Transfers
We do not intentionally transfer personal data outside the UK for our own processing. Store providers may process limited distribution and billing data under their own compliance frameworks.

7. Retention & Deletion
Retention periods:

- Tester enquiries: 24 months
- Tester participation records: 7 years
- Diagnostics logs: 24 months
- Subscription validation records: 7 years
- Health-related data: 7 years

After expiry, data is securely deleted or irreversibly anonymised unless legally required to retain longer.

Deletion requests can be made via data-controller@norse-bear-studios.com.

8. Security
We implement appropriate technical and organisational measures including access controls, encryption in transit, secure storage, and monitoring.

Health data receives enhanced safeguards including role-based access controls and pseudonymisation/anonymisation where feasible.

9. Cookies (Website Only)
The website/portal may use essential cookies for security and session management, and analytics cookies for usage insights. App telemetry is governed by the sections above.

10. Children
The Services are not intended for individuals under 18 as part of the testing programme. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.

11. Your Rights
You may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to processing, and data portability. Where data is processed for research purposes, certain rights may be lawfully limited to protect research integrity.

You have the right to lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO).
